Stroke Program
Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States. Each year, more than 700,000 people experience a stroke, making it the nation's third leading cause of death. Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medical Center is a certified Primary Stroke Center and is accredited by The Joint Commission, the nation's predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care. Each year, the hospital treats several hundred stroke patients in its emergency department and dedicated stroke unit. Holy Redeemer Hospital and Medical Center's stroke program was one of only a handful in Pennsylvania to receive a Performance Achievement Award from the American Stroke Association and American Heart Association.
